NYMPHOPLASTY

(FEMALE INTIMATE SURGERY)

Nymphoplasty is the procedure by which the appearance of the vulva is reshaped and we combine the reduction of the labia minora with fat transfer of the major.

When a woman has hypertrophy of the labia minora of the vulva, that is, its size is abnormally increased, rather than an aesthetic problem, she suffers a functional problem that requires what we call nymphoplasty or intimate plastic surgery.

If the distance from the base of the lip to the upper edge is greater than 3 to 4 cm, it is considered hypertrophy, which can be unilateral, bilateral, symmetric or asymmetric, and the latter is the most frequent.

The clinical symptoms of hypertrophy of the labia minora range from local irritation and discomfort when sitting or walking to hygiene problems during menstruation; local irritation may be more intense if the patient engages in sports activities such as cycling.

There are women who avoid having sexual intercourse for fear of showing the vulva or pain due to the entry of the lips into the vagina during intercourse. All of this affects the personal and social life of patients and can lead to significant psychological disorders.

This hypertrophy of the labia minora is observed in women under 20 years of age and in multiparous women (who have had several children).

There are different surgical techniques that provide good functional and aesthetic results, among which is nymphoplasty. It is a simple technique that can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation. It consists of the reduction of the labia minora and the remodeling of adjacent structures such as excess skin on the hood of the clitoris.

Other types of treatments can be added such as the reduction or thickening of the labia majora with the patient's own fat using the Coleman technique or with hyaluronic acid, liposuction of the pubic area, vaginal tightening or vaginoplasty in women who have undergone a dilation of the vagina due to childbirth, sexual intercourse and genetic causes, among others.

The nymphoplasty takes about an hour.

In just 72 hours the woman is recovered to join her daily life.

During the first 2 days you will feel an inflammation of the area due to edema and bruising, but between 7 and 10 days it will be almost normal size.

To prevent the stitches from being noticed, we make an internal suture with a resorbable thread, so that after a few days they fall off on their own and it is not necessary to remove them.

The patient can resume sexual intercourse after a month after the nymphoplasty, thanks to which we achieve the most anatomical and long-lasting result possible.

.

Remember that it should always be performed by a certified Plastic Surgeon.
